THE WINERY… AND MORE

Zorzal Wines was born in 2008 with the aim of making the Gualtallary,, in the Valle de Uco, Mendoza,  one of  the world’s top wine regions. Today, the winery is jointly owned by   a group of Canadian investors in Zorzal Inc.and Grupo  Belen.

The winery is located in the center of gualtallary and surrounded by 70 hectares of vineyards and land. It is equipped with the latest-generation technology for crushing, fermentation, and aging.

WE MAKE TERROIR WINES BASED ON OUR PERSONAL INTERPRETATION OF GUALTALLARY TO REFLECT ITS ESSENCE AND ENHANCE THE TERROIR IN THE EXPRESSION OF OUR WINES.

To achieve natural wines of the highest quality, the winery was designed on four levels to transport the grapes, musts, and wines by gravity with the minimal use of pumps.

It also has an automatic temperature control system from New Zealand that can be operated remotely online from anywhere in the world.

In our quest to reflect the greatest expression of the terroir, we constantly innovate in our winemaking with minimal intervention. Thus, we incorporate roll fermenters (barrels which rotate on a central axis supported by rollers) , cement eggs and amphorae, among other vessels. We also harvest the same varietal at different  times and use micro-vinification in oak barrels.

WE AGE OUR WINES IN:

For the ageing of our wines we use 225 and 500 liter French oak barrels, as well as 2,000 liter foudres (very large oak barrels) with the aim of achieving finer and more elegant wines.. Likewise, we use cement eggs to give the wines purity, nerve, intensity, powerand life.
